Life Of Blogging Doctumentary – Part Two

Last week, I put up part one of the documentary. Since then, I have talked to more people. This post includes those people.

Enjoy.

Monday 9th July 2018..

I want to talk to an ex- blogger and get their story. I messaged H (hh_naii) on Twiiter and asked him a few questions. Here are his answers;

Me: So what made you decide to quit?

H: It was a combination of things that included I didn’t have time for it anymore, I didn’t know what to write about and most importantly I’d outgrown it because I started it as an outlet to express my innermost feelings and I’d realised that it looks a bit strange when you have a blog where you rant out all your inner feelings to the internet because it makes you seem like your life is absolutely terrible and that you’re ungrateful about a lot of things because I only ever spoke about first world problems on mine. Now despite having time, I don’t really know what I can write about so that’s why I haven’t started again but I’m definitely not ruling out starting another blog and building another brand from the ground up. I also forgot to mention there that I’d outgrown the community and what I mean by that is a lot of people in the blogging world are far too easily offended by so many small things that I’d be here forever telling you about but an example is the absence of a certain sexuality/ ethnic group in books and films when books and films take a lot of planning and thought and for me there’s no point in adding a certain type of person into your art if it doesn’t fit the story you’re trying to tell. That caused me to quit because it gets a little too much where everyone you’re trying to get on is offended by every small thing you say and so me being someone who has a lot more realistic view of the world doesn’t mesh well with a group of people who all seemingly are ready to hunt for things to be offended by.

Me: How many times did you write and delete a quit post?

H: I haven’t actually made a quit post if im honest. I just didn’t post anymore and eventually deleted it and hoped people forgot I’d ever been there. I didn’t really know what to write, where to start in it and that. I just had a few blank drafts that were supposed to be quit posts.I tried quitting before in an effort to be validated and see who cared that i quit because I was at peak annoyance with the community and I wanted to see what’d happen. I did I initially quit because I had some fat writers block and I didn’t enjoy it anymore but I partly made an extravagant post saying how I hated blogging and everyone doing it for attention purposes and not everyone will admit to doing things for attention but im secure enough within myself now to own up to what I did in the past and justify it with the actual reasons rather than making up a reason like someone who’d say they’re not looking for attention but the reality is that people blog so that people can read their posts and get attention. Nobody publishes a post and says I hope no one likes or comments on this or even reads this. I just wanted even more attention than normal.

Me: What was your favourite post that you did?

H: If I’m honest I cringe at all my posts i ever did now because of how hard I was trying to be cool and all that but in reality I felt like Shrek in the third film where he’s trying to talk like a teenager and he clearly is failing at being cool. If there’s any post I could say I’m even remotely happy with and would publish again was my post where I talked about an outfit I wore once because I love dressing myself up and all that.

Me: Do you feel happy with your decision?

H: Yes because I feel as if i don’t have to be guilty for not posting regularly and I’m now able to focus on stuff that Was more important such as exams and general looking after myself.

Me: And that’s all the questions, thank you for taking part.

H: No problems.

The next person is Elm. She is a blogger who has been blogging for around 3 years, her blog tells us about her life.. love, struggles and the occasional poetic post.

Here is her interview:

Me: Do you feel like you have a life outside of blogging?

Elm: I definitely do. Often, that life outside informs my blogging, such as what posts I write and how I feel about those posts. My life enhances my blogging but blogging also enriches my life. If I ever feel like blogging is starting to affect things to the point where I can do nothing else, I have to step back because my mental health is the most important thing.

Me: Have you had any hate comments?

Elm: Not really. I’ve had someone saying they were going to unfollow my blog but I don’t class that as a hate comment because it was for a valid reason. I’ve had some weird comments but none that are particularly unpleasant, thank goodness. However, I’m bracing myself for my first hate comment, just in case.

Me: What is the weirdest comment you’ve ever had?

Elm: I can’t remember a specific one but all my spam ones, such as constant SEO promotions and people leaving 100 links to their blog, can be strange especially when they’re posted out of the blue with no context. Sometimes I go through my comments and just get confused but I’m incredibly thankful to the 99.9% of people who leave genuinely thoughtful comments!

Me: I think that’s all the questions, thank you so much for taking part.

Elm: Any time!! Thank you for letting me be part of this!

Thank you to Elm for being apart of this. This post is already too long. Thank you very much for reading, I hope you enjoyed.

See you all soon.

Pink Halo Eye Look

Hello!

It’s Lau. And today I want to show you an eye look that is really awesome for the summer.

Without further or do, let’s begin.

This isn’t really showing you how to achieve it but if you’d like a post on it then let me know.

As you can see, in the center it is very shiny and I actually used the Revolution Holographic Liquid Highlighter in Unicorn Elixir.

I also did this whole look using one palette, that palette was the Soph x Revolution which I love. So, if you have that palette thenyou can recreate this look, you can recreate it without.

I used the shades;

  • Peaches ( transition shade)
  • Cloudberry ( outer corner)
  • Pumpkin (outer V)
  • Fairy Lights (inner corner)
  • Strawberry Sweets (inner and outer corner, also in the crease)
  • Mixed Berries (little amount on the center of the lid)

I also used the Sleek Soltice Palette, using the the lavender one. I put it over the Mixed Berries shade.

Then I put the Holographic Liquid Highlighter over the top.

Using Strawberry Sweets andCloudberry on the lashline.

And that’s all I did. Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed.

See you all soon.

Blogging Chat – Connor Gurney

Hello!

It’s Lau. And I have another blogging chat, with the talented blogger Connor Gurney. He has a very cool blog that is full of laughter and some really deep posts.

Anyway, here the chat:

Me: Lets just start off with a topic… Life. Tell me about it.

Con: It’s like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get!

Me: Very true, risk taking makes life a bit more adventurous.

Con: Spot on! Risks are great in proportion.

Me: Personally, I never take risks. I’m very cautious and try to make my life as drama free as possible

Con: Why? What scares you?

Me: Something could very much go wrong, I can’t take that risk.

Con: But something could very much go right too!

Me: True, at some point risks need to be made. Maybe soon. Anyways, let’s talk about you, tell the readers a bit about yourself.

Con: Right, that’s a tough one. I’m 18, I founded my own business and have been teaching myself to program for almost 9 years, I teach coding voluntarily at a private all girls school in York, I used to lead a team of journalists around the world and I ran the first site for survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire reaching 200,000 people in 2 weeks. Now, how about you?

Me: You’re very successful. Well, I’m 17, I started my blog in March and have been making frequent posts ever since. When I was younger I was into dance, I did quite a lot of dance actually. A few weeks ago, I won an award and that was cool. I don’t really have much else to say.

Con: As are you! 😄 Work hard, play harder. Well done on the award! So, what got you into dance?

Me: Thank you, it just something I really liked when I was younger. I’ve always been very creative. What got you into coding?

Con: You seem it from your blog! 😄 I accidentally opened the source code of a web page one day, and got curious… learnt to code before it was cool for 9-year-olds to. 😂

Me: That’s really cool, I’ve never understood coding. But for a 9 year old to develop a passion for it, that’s amazing.

Con: It was such a nice feeling when I built my first webpage… bit bright though! 😂

Me: What colour did you go for?

Con: It was bright pink text on a bright blue background, combined with Comic Sans for the font. Awful! 😂

Me: You went bold then, any child would do colours..as an adult you kind of tone it down.

Con: Indeed! My sense of design still isn’t that strong. How about yours?

Me: I try to, I do like it but just not that great at it. I’m always trying

Con: Keep at it! What’s your biggest strength?

Me: Probably kindness. I like to think of myself as kind. What about yours?

Con: You really are. I think mine has to be programming — I’m no expert, but I can sure as hell get by!

Me: Definitely, and you’re awesome at it. I’m going to end this post here. Thank you so much.

Con: Thanks for the chat!

Thank you to Connor for taking part of the chat, I definitely recommend checking out his blog. He’s awesome.

Life Of Blogging Documentary – Part One

Hello!

It’s Lau and todays post is nothing like I’ve ever done before, I want to really get in depth about life as a blogger and make a documentary out of it.

There will be parts to it, I want to interview a lot of people so if you’re up for it then please let me know.

So, without further or do.. Lets begin this adventure.

Life of Blogging Doctumentary

To start this story, we should really know when did blogging first come about? Who created the first blog?

It was even called a blog at first, it was called ‘Personal Homepage’ and Justin Hall first created Links.net. I actually wanted to include him in this post to ask him some questions about blogging.. So I actually tried to contact him and I didn’t get an answer back.

Before I get onto talking to other bloggers, ex bloggers and active bloggers I want to talk about my experience.

My Experience

I haven’t been blogging for very long but for the last 5 months I’ve really learnt a lot about blogging, life outside of blogging and the other bloggers. It’s very safe to say that blogging is always on my mind.. “What should I post?” “Should I go out in the pool or do some blogging stuff?”

That was a genuine thought I had today and I chose blogging because I love it. It’s very much my first priority. Around my second month of blogging, I wanted to get a plan. I thought it would make me a lot more professional because now my URL doesn’t end in “wordpress.com” instead it is “.com” and I love that aspect of it. Of course, because I’ve upgraded to personal.. now my mind id on premium. I always want the best for my blog.

Now that I’ve rambled on, I want to go onto other people’s experiences.

Diary Of Ellie

I asked a few questions and here are her answers.

Do you find yourself checking your stats a lot? Her answer: I check my stats a lot, probably more than I should!

How has blogging made you feel? Has it made you feel frustrated at time? The only ever times I become frustrated with it is when I’m trying to photograph products for posts and when I can’t get the shot I like it annoys me so much.

Do you feel part of the community?I’m pretty much always feel included in the community and I love it!

What is life like outside of blogging? For me, I’m always thinking about what post I should do next? I tend to make a lot of ‘real life’ decisions based on blogging so if I see a new makeup product I Like, I think about whether it would make a good blog post, although I do have a life away from blogging I think they’re both slowly integrating into one.

Alex

I asked her a few questions. Here are her answers;

You’re anonymous. Have you ever had any moment of panic where you thought someone knew your identity? Oh 100% — when I first started, I gave away so much information about myself that it was crazy. Looking back, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone found out – but if they are then they’re doing a good job hiding it😂I wouldn’t mind becoming unhidden but I don’t know, I like the mystery.

What’s the lowest point where you wanted to quit? And have you ever written that post but stopped yourself? I’ve actually never even thought about quitting – I mean, sometimes I can’t be bothered to type up posts (hence the spelling mistakes) but I love to share my life with my followers and I love hearing their feedback so quitting is the last thing on my mind right now.

Have you had a hate comment? If so, did it affect you? I’ve never had one – I mean, spam can be pretty weird but that’s about it. I think even if I were to have one, it wouldn’t affect me because everyone is bound to have an opinion and there’s no stopping that.

If you could change one thing about the blogging community, what would it be? People just blogging for the sake of being popular. I think there should be a goal or a reason as to why you’re blogging – not just to be a cool kid if that makes sense?

This has turned into a really long blog post, so I’m going to end it here. Look out for Part Two of this documentary post.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed and I will see you all soon.

How I Take Blog Pictures

Hello!

It’s Lau. And today I want to show you how I take pictures for my blog, like when I need to photograph makeup.

The way I take the pictures isn’t at all professional but it’s works for me and I am mostly happy with the outcome. So I take my pictures on my phone, everything to do with my blog I do on my phone.

It’s a fairly new phone, I believe it came out in 2016. The camera on my phone is pretty good, it focuses well and is just as good as a photography camera.

With the backgrounds I use, I use a blanket.. a plain grey blanket. Nothing fancy just a plain blanket.

I also don’t want it to just be a blanket, so I put a fake flower next to it, it makes the pictures look brighter.

And that’s pretty much it, I take the pictures in pretty much direct sunlight because it makes a good effect.

And that’s it for how I take blog pictures, thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post.

And I will see you soon.
