Blogging Chat – Connor Gurney

Hello!

It’s Lau. And I have another blogging chat, with the talented blogger Connor Gurney. He has a very cool blog that is full of laughter and some really deep posts.

Anyway, here the chat:

Me: Lets just start off with a topic… Life. Tell me about it.

Con: It’s like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get!

Me: Very true, risk taking makes life a bit more adventurous.

Con: Spot on! Risks are great in proportion.

Me: Personally, I never take risks. I’m very cautious and try to make my life as drama free as possible

Con: Why? What scares you?

Me: Something could very much go wrong, I can’t take that risk.

Con: But something could very much go right too!

Me: True, at some point risks need to be made. Maybe soon. Anyways, let’s talk about you, tell the readers a bit about yourself.

Con: Right, that’s a tough one. I’m 18, I founded my own business and have been teaching myself to program for almost 9 years, I teach coding voluntarily at a private all girls school in York, I used to lead a team of journalists around the world and I ran the first site for survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire reaching 200,000 people in 2 weeks. Now, how about you?

Me: You’re very successful. Well, I’m 17, I started my blog in March and have been making frequent posts ever since. When I was younger I was into dance, I did quite a lot of dance actually. A few weeks ago, I won an award and that was cool. I don’t really have much else to say.

Con: As are you! 😄 Work hard, play harder. Well done on the award! So, what got you into dance?

Me: Thank you, it just something I really liked when I was younger. I’ve always been very creative. What got you into coding?

Con: You seem it from your blog! 😄 I accidentally opened the source code of a web page one day, and got curious… learnt to code before it was cool for 9-year-olds to. 😂

Me: That’s really cool, I’ve never understood coding. But for a 9 year old to develop a passion for it, that’s amazing.

Con: It was such a nice feeling when I built my first webpage… bit bright though! 😂

Me: What colour did you go for?

Con: It was bright pink text on a bright blue background, combined with Comic Sans for the font. Awful! 😂

Me: You went bold then, any child would do colours..as an adult you kind of tone it down.

Con: Indeed! My sense of design still isn’t that strong. How about yours?

Me: I try to, I do like it but just not that great at it. I’m always trying

Con: Keep at it! What’s your biggest strength?

Me: Probably kindness. I like to think of myself as kind. What about yours?

Con: You really are. I think mine has to be programming — I’m no expert, but I can sure as hell get by!

Me: Definitely, and you’re awesome at it. I’m going to end this post here. Thank you so much.

Con: Thanks for the chat!

Thank you to Connor for taking part of the chat, I definitely recommend checking out his blog. He’s awesome.

Life Of Blogging Documentary – Part One

Hello!

It’s Lau and todays post is nothing like I’ve ever done before, I want to really get in depth about life as a blogger and make a documentary out of it.

There will be parts to it, I want to interview a lot of people so if you’re up for it then please let me know.

So, without further or do.. Lets begin this adventure.

Life of Blogging Doctumentary

To start this story, we should really know when did blogging first come about? Who created the first blog?

It was even called a blog at first, it was called ‘Personal Homepage’ and Justin Hall first created Links.net. I actually wanted to include him in this post to ask him some questions about blogging.. So I actually tried to contact him and I didn’t get an answer back.

Before I get onto talking to other bloggers, ex bloggers and active bloggers I want to talk about my experience.

My Experience

I haven’t been blogging for very long but for the last 5 months I’ve really learnt a lot about blogging, life outside of blogging and the other bloggers. It’s very safe to say that blogging is always on my mind.. “What should I post?” “Should I go out in the pool or do some blogging stuff?”

That was a genuine thought I had today and I chose blogging because I love it. It’s very much my first priority. Around my second month of blogging, I wanted to get a plan. I thought it would make me a lot more professional because now my URL doesn’t end in “wordpress.com” instead it is “.com” and I love that aspect of it. Of course, because I’ve upgraded to personal.. now my mind id on premium. I always want the best for my blog.

Now that I’ve rambled on, I want to go onto other people’s experiences.

Diary Of Ellie

I asked a few questions and here are her answers.

Do you find yourself checking your stats a lot? Her answer: I check my stats a lot, probably more than I should!

How has blogging made you feel? Has it made you feel frustrated at time? The only ever times I become frustrated with it is when I’m trying to photograph products for posts and when I can’t get the shot I like it annoys me so much.

Do you feel part of the community?I’m pretty much always feel included in the community and I love it!

What is life like outside of blogging? For me, I’m always thinking about what post I should do next? I tend to make a lot of ‘real life’ decisions based on blogging so if I see a new makeup product I Like, I think about whether it would make a good blog post, although I do have a life away from blogging I think they’re both slowly integrating into one.

Alex

I asked her a few questions. Here are her answers;

You’re anonymous. Have you ever had any moment of panic where you thought someone knew your identity? Oh 100% — when I first started, I gave away so much information about myself that it was crazy. Looking back, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone found out – but if they are then they’re doing a good job hiding it😂I wouldn’t mind becoming unhidden but I don’t know, I like the mystery.

What’s the lowest point where you wanted to quit? And have you ever written that post but stopped yourself? I’ve actually never even thought about quitting – I mean, sometimes I can’t be bothered to type up posts (hence the spelling mistakes) but I love to share my life with my followers and I love hearing their feedback so quitting is the last thing on my mind right now.

Have you had a hate comment? If so, did it affect you? I’ve never had one – I mean, spam can be pretty weird but that’s about it. I think even if I were to have one, it wouldn’t affect me because everyone is bound to have an opinion and there’s no stopping that.

If you could change one thing about the blogging community, what would it be? People just blogging for the sake of being popular. I think there should be a goal or a reason as to why you’re blogging – not just to be a cool kid if that makes sense?

This has turned into a really long blog post, so I’m going to end it here. Look out for Part Two of this documentary post.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed and I will see you all soon.

Soph x Revolution Palette Review

Hello!

It’s Lau, and it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I do have an explanation for this, I haven’t had any internet since last Tuesday. I’m really sorry about that between this time, I have collected a few makeup products which I am excited about..one of them being the Soph x Revolution Palette.

The Soph x Revolution palette was created by a Youtuber called SophDoesNails and I have been watching her for a while, before she came out with this palette. She is part of the Revolution team, making frequent videos for the Makeup Revolution Youtube Channel.

And now onto the review;

I picked up this palette at Superdrug for £10, the colour selection is well put together.

And onto the quality of the shadows, the metallic shadows are very pigmented that you wouldn’t even need to use anything to make it more pigmented. The mattes are easy to blend and are also very pigmented, it is very fair to say this is my new favourite palette.

The mirror is big and very clear to see any imperfections which is a pro and con.

But overall, I love this palette and will be using it again.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed.

And I will see you all soon.

Reality Of Blogging

Hello!

It’s Lau. And today I want to just sit and talk about blogging. There are a lot of stereotypes of blogging, people say we only do it for free things however that’s only a perk of being a blogger but it’s not easy.

Being a blogger takes patience, committment and effort. There’s really no such thing as going viral with blogging, people discover you and they stick around. And we appriciate every person who does.

I have been blogging for almost 5 months and it’s not been easy. It’s taken a lot of effort to just come to wear I am now, and I don’t plan on giving up anytime soon.

We do this because we love it, those followers aren’t just numbers, they’re people and we know those people and we love those people. We support and care for eachother, it’s one of the nicest places to be. This community is one of the best places to be, it’s the best place to start.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed.

And I will see you soon.

Blogging Chat – WingedMamaHood

Hello!

It’s Lau. And today is another Blogging Chat, it is a series where me and another blogger talk about anything and everything and post it here.

Today’s guest is WingedMamaHood. She is a really cool blogger who blogs about her life as a mum and occasionally blogs about really helpful posts. Her links are at the bottom of the post.

Without further or do, let’s begin.

Me: How long have you been blogging for?

Joanne: Urm it’s coming up to 6 months now!

Me: So you started at the start of the year. Was it like a resolution?

Joanne: I guess so! I always wanted to start a blog but I never actually gave myself that last push to pluck up the courage. Well.. I did eventually because here I am!

Me: Which now you’re doing so well with your blog. And especially because you have two children to look after, it takes up a lot of time.

Joanne:Yes! I’ve started making money already which I am beyond grateful for. It’s extremely hard work trying to cram everything into what seems like a 3 hour long day but I’m making it happen💪🏼

Me: Are you on a website or do your own your website? I’m on WordPress I applied for WordAds (Where you get paid for blogging) And I still haven’t got accepted. It’s been months.

Joanne:I started on WordPress! I have recently moved to my own domain. I myself haven’t looked into WordAds but that may be something I’ll have a research about!

Me: I kind of think that WordAds isn’t really worth the waiting. How did you get started on your own domain?

Joanne: I went through the WordPress app itself! I think it’s siteground which I’m with now if I remember correctly.

Me: I’ll look into it. It’s very difficult to start earning money.

Joanne: I couldn’t agree more! The only paid work I’ve done so far is with brands. I’ve managed to earn myself over £100 in the last 2 day compared to £0 in the first 6 months. I guess it’s all hit and miss when it comes to blogging

Me: It is, brands want popular blogs with 1000’s followers that has DA of 40+. I haven’t got paid work with a brand yet.

Joanne: Yes you’re right indeed they do! Personally I don’t have the biggest social media following and I average at around 3k monthly views. Brands are still willing to work with you if you work out a plan between yourself and them.

Me: I’d be very up for that if a brand emailed me back. I apply for many opportunities everyday, i never really get a response back.
I have this one email saying if i want free traffic.

Joanne: Don’t give up! You could find that In a months time 15 opportunity’s come your way in a single week.

Me: That’s the dream, I’m going to keep doing what I do. It’s all so confusing the brand thing.

Joanne: It most definitely is.

Me: I think I will end this post here. Thank you so much.

Joanne:💗💗💗💗

Thank you so much to Joanne for doing this post, check out her links.
